Every year at this time, I take requests from parents concerning the style of teacher they would like for the coming year. Please feel free to mail, drop off, or email letters. Email letters can be sent to email@example.com. I do not take requests for specific teachers. I recommend that letters be short. Bullet points work great. Create a list of your child’s learning preferences and a list of traits you are looking for in a teacher. This information will be used as we make class placements for next year.

Next week will be filled with fun activities for our graduating 5th graders. Thursday, June 8th is the 5th grade picnic. Students will be treated to a pizza lunch while they picnic outside with their friends. Make sure you bring your yearbooks to school that day to get them signed!
Graduation day is Friday, June 9th. The ceremony is at 10am in the Multipurpose room. (Only two guests per student please.) After the ceremony families are invited to the 5th grade building to get their 5th graders, celebrate with cupcakes and say goodbye to teachers.
And then… POOL PARTY!!! Our friends at the North Raleigh Swim Club are hosting a pool party for all North Ridge 5th graders and their families to celebrate graduation. (You don’t have to know how to swim. There is a roped off shallow end, a beach volleyball court and a sandy playground. Something for everyone!) The party is from 3-5pm. North Raleigh Swim Club is located only about a mile away from the school at 8105 Haymarket Lane which is right off of Harps Mill Road. Click here for more info on the pool.
We still need volunteers to help set up, tear down and run event booths throughout the day. Come join the fun!

Please, please, please plan to join us for a lunchtime vote for next year’s NRE PTA Board. We will be briefly meeting in Room 5 at noon on Monday, June 5th to elect the 2017-2018 slate of officers and to approve the 2017-2018 PTA Budget. PTA will provide a light lunch and beverage for all attendees. For the elections to conform to our bylaws, we must have a quorum of 20 NRE PTA members who attend and vote. Please RSVP to firstname.lastname@example.org to help us achieve our goal for a free and fair election (and for a friendly lunch!) We look forward to seeing you there!

If they bring twenty books, they will get to bring five swapped books home and fifteen will be donated to students in need.
Please bring books in good condition. We are especially in need of chapter book donations. Please no board books.
Parent volunteers are appreciated and welcome for any part of the Book Swap day (must be registered volunteers). Please contact Erica Penny if you have any questions or are able to help. Let her know what time you can come. firstname.lastname@example.org or 919-870-4100 ext. 26821

All around North Ridge Elementary students and teachers will be collecting used markers that are ready to be discarded. The markers will be sent to a facility where they will be converted into clean fuel. This fuel can be used to power vehicles, heat homes, cook meals and more!
Please help support our efforts by sending your kids in with any used markers you may have around the house – even non-Crayola brands. A drop-off boxes will be located in the office breezeway for your child to deposit the markers. There is also a box in Mr. Ring’s art room and by the teacher mailboxes, so if your child brings them to school they can ask their teacher to deposit them there.
